Movin’ on Up... to the Upper Chakras
Chakra Series, Part 2!
Recap (from Part 1): Chakras. Simply put: Energetic centers on the body. You can take it literally and go waaaaaay down the spiritual rabbit hole if you like. OR you can use it practically and apply some simple basics to your life to help you feel better. There’s no right or wrong way... We’re going with the second option because that’s our preference.
This is the second of a two-part blog series. Today, we’re discussing the top four chakras. We’ll keep it as simple as possible so you can add this info to your Personal Development toolbox right away. (Sign up for our e-mail list to get even more discussion on this!)
We’re working our way up from the root, so we recommend checking out the first post if you haven’t seen it yet. In it, we discuss the Root, Sacral, and Solar Plexus chakras.
Let’s work our way through the top four!
The Heart Chakra (green): Ahhhh the beautiful, beautiful heart. The middle chakra, connecting your lower and upper energetic centers. The heart chakra is where your love and compassion live. This is what gives you the ability to empathize and connect to others. When we lose someone, our heart literally hurts. The hands and arms also come out of the heart chakra. We help, hold, and hug with our arms. The work we do with our hands is merely an extension of the love (or lack of love) we feel in our hearts.
An out-of-alignment heart chakra can cause feelings of loneliness, helplessness, and lack of empathy. Physical symptoms associated with this chakra can be heart problems, lung issues, breast issues, or upper back pain.
The Throat Chakra (blue): This is your communication center! Ever get a lump in your throat and feel it’s hard to talk? This chakra is where we form our words and communicate verbally. Speaking your truth with compassion is a difficult thing to do, but it’s also the healthiest for yourself and others.
When the throat chakra is stagnant, it may manifest as shutting down verbally (the silent treatment), telling lies, gossipping, or talking “without a filter.” Physical associations are the thyroid, throat and upper respiratory tract, teeth, gums, and mouth.
The Third Eye Chakra (indigo): Your third eye hangs out in the middle of your forehead. This has to do with your intuition or what some would call the “sixth sense.” You use your third eye to see the whole picture and not just what’s right in front of your face. When you’re using your imagination, you’re using your third eye!
When this chakra is blocked or unhealthy, you may not be very in touch with your intuition. It may be difficult to make decisions. The other extreme would be the “know it all” attitude and being unable to see all sides of an issue. Physical ailments could be headaches, eye problems, hearing problems, or difficulty concentrating.
The Crown Chakra (white or sometimes purple): This is at the very top or just above the crown of your head. The crown chakra has to do with overall awareness. It is kind of a bird’s eye view of all the other chakras, your life, and the universe. A healthy crown chakra gives us a sense that all is well and working perfectly in the order it is supposed to be. It lets us be open and accepting to whatever life brings our way.
Since this chakra oversees all the other chakras, blockages here can affect all the other chakras. You may feel lost one day, and unable to get your words out the next day. The brain and nervous system (which communicate with the entire body) are the physical features associated with this chakra.
So that was the shortest of run-downs on the chakras! We weren’t kidding when we said we were going to rock ‘em. If you feel intrigued or want to know more, Professor Google has a gazillion more articles to discover. We hope this turns into a useful tool for your toolbox.
