Reconnect with Nature

Reconnect with Nature: Simple Practices and an Earth Day Challenge

Let’s face it: nature just feels good. Whether it’s a walk in the woods, sitting by the ocean, or even just opening your window to feel the breeze, being outside has this way of grounding us. It reminds us that life is bigger than the stresses we carry around every day.

So how do we deepen that connection? How do we go from “I should get outside more” to actually making it happen? Here are three simple, doable ideas to bring more nature into your life:

Mindful Time Outdoors:
Next time you’re outside—whether it’s a walk, a coffee break, or even just standing on your porch—take a moment to really notice what’s around you. What do you hear? Birds? Wind? Traffic? What do you see? The tiniest details, like the way sunlight hits a leaf, can bring you back to the present moment.

Bring Nature Indoors:
If you can’t always be outside, bring a little nature to you. Add some plants to your space (bonus: they purify the air!). Arrange a vase of fresh flowers or display shells, stones, or other little treasures you’ve found outside. These small touches create a connection, even when you’re stuck inside. (Don't ask my husband how he feels about this. We currently have a monstera that's taking over our entire dining room. hehe)

Celebrate Earth Day:
This Earth Day, let’s go beyond appreciating nature and do something to give back. Here’s a fun challenge for the week:

  • Spend 10 minutes outside every day, just observing.
  • Pick up one piece of litter or recycle something you no longer need.
  • Plant something—a flower, a tree, or even an idea for how you can live more sustainably.

Earth Day is a reminder, but the truth is, nature is worth celebrating every single day. The more we connect with it, the more we realize it’s not something “out there”—it’s part of us.

So, are you up for the challenge? Let’s get outside, take a breath, and show the earth a little love. 🌿
