Tips for Styling Jewelry this Fall
It’s officially Fall!
As a lover of all things summer, this transition makes me a little bit sad.
I love nothing more than sunshine on my skin, swimming like a mermaid, margaritas on the porch, and flip-flops.
Don’t get me wrong, I love fall as well. I just miss having a REAL fall.
Wyoming doesn’t get them often. It usually gets too cold, too fast, and the beautiful leaves that are in the process of changing from greens to yellow to orange, then red…freeze and fall to the ground before they get the chance to transform.
It’s not just the leaves that are transforming either. Our wardrobes transform this time of year as well. I’m personally in the process of sorting summer clothes to go to the attic and pulling down warmer weather clothes. The switch from tank tops to long-sleeve shirts means adjusting our jewelry, too.
Most pieces of our handmade jewelry work any time of the year, but the following tips can help transition your summer jewelry into fall.
Warmer colors along with layering jewelry over clothes always work in Autumn.
Pantone released its fall and winter colors for 2022 and they’re pretty much what you would expect, with a few magical surprises.
Adding trendy seasonal colors is a great way to play around with color and fashion.
Pantone’s fall and winter colors include:
- Lava Falls
- Samoan Sun
- Orange Tiger
- Rose Violet
- Amazon
- Nosegay
- Waterspout
- Caramel Café
- Midnight
- Martini Olive
Anyone that knows me will not be surprised to see that beautiful shade of green in the pick.
The warm color of gold jewelry makes it an excellent choice for fall. Gold goes well with traditional fall colors, like red, yellow, orange, and green.
That being said, silver jewelry also looks great with all of these colors.
If silver is your metal of choice, don’t feel like you need to wear gold.
Picking longer necklaces to wear over higher necklines is a great option.
Layered necklaces look best with a deep v-neckline or a turtleneck.
Simple necklace styles work best when layering - like delicate chains and a few pendants.
Pendant Necklaces look beautiful paired with scoop-neck, long-sleeved shirts, or sweaters.
Be sure to stick with fabrics that don’t snag or grab easily.
Bracelet layers also stand out over a bare arm, or over a long sleeve.
I love layering my bracelets all year long, so this works for me.
Wrap bracelets, cuff bracelets, charm bracelets or bangle bracelets will work for fall.
A fancy silver bangle looks sophisticated all year and can be one of your go-to options for a very long time.
Experiment with bracelet stacks. Find one chunky piece and choose complementary pieces with different textures. It’s easier to mix and match colors and textures in a bracelet stack than it is in necklaces.
Stacking rings are a great style for fall, too!
Stack those rings! Cathy from Prairiewifeinheels.com stacks rings like a pro.
She stacks rings of ours that I would have never thought of stacking.
She stacks our bezel rings with other stacking rings and they look like they were designed that way!
Honestly, I used to HATE wearing rings. I thought my fingers were too short and fat. (thanks to my childhood piano teacher for putting this in my head for my entire life - true story)I only started wearing rings a few years ago. I missed out on a lot of rings!
Earrings are probably the easiest jewelry to style for fall.
Hoop earrings and dangle earrings are great during colder months because while the rest of you is all bundled up in coats, hats, and gloves, big earrings can be the star of the show.
A lot of people will tell you to choose a metal that complements your skin tone.
And while I agree with them if you have an important event coming up, like a job interview or a wedding, I tell people to wear jewelry that they love.
If your veins look more blueish, then you have a cool skin tone.
Green veins indicate warm-toned skin. Having both blue and green tones? You have a neutral skin color.
